ETSI TS 102 822-4 deals with the location independent identification of content, the location information, and the process of finding the location when an identifier is given. Content Referencing and content resource identifiers which are related to the location independent identification of content are described in H.iptv-md.

This specification provides an initial industry consensus on the location independent identification of content, the location information, and the process of finding the location for digital TV broadcasting. This specification are implemented in a number of devices.

The referenced standard has completed the rigorous and comprehensive review and approval process of the ETSI standards development committee. The first version of ETSI TS 102 822-4 standard (V1.1.1) was approved and published in October 2003. This version (V1.3.1) including the referenced text was approved and published in November 2007.

The referenced standard has completed the rigorous and comprehensive review and approval process of the ETSI standards development committee.
